About Scott
The Art of Scott THompson

Fine Wildlife art, Woodcarvings, Paintings and Prints

I started carving wood and soap stone close to thirty years ago, and it seems that we have always had some art for sale to supplement the families income.   I love the raw beauty of well finished wood,  but certain species of animals demand color.    So my journey to learn the art of painting and colors began, at first just to add splashes of color to the wood.    Over time I fell in love with painting two dimensional pieces and, in 2004, released my first limited edition prints.

Most of my work is wildlife, as I am an outdoorsman, bowhunter, fisherman, and general wild places enthusiast.   My works are my best efforts to capture moments in the outdoors, a window to a moment in time.

As you explore my site, you will see murals, large snow carvings, a hand carved, working carousel, and many large public artworks.   I hope that they reflect my love of nature and all God's great creations.

Below is a picture of Alaska's Lt. Governor, Sean Parnell with Scott.  Scott is presenting two original carvings to Sean for his participation in a recent Fish Alaska Magazine event.  The 2nd carving is for Governor Sarah Palin, who was busy with her VP run.

Pictures and the stories about both carvings will appear shortly in the Original Woodcarvings section.
